Thursday, October 6th

Look closely at these two definitions of the term identity:
  • The fact of being who or what a person or thing is
  • Identity can be defined as the distinguishing personality or character of an individual.
Think about the following statement: A person's name is an important part of his or her identity. Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not? Explain your answer using information from your own experiences.

Then, constructively respond to at least one other classmate's posting.

No a name shouldn't be your whole identity but it is an importance. Without it, your personality might not be the same. A name is just a title, not your identity

yes your name is important, so you can get a job, and you can tell the diffrence between other people.

I agree with this statement because that IS your identity. Without a name you would literally be no one.

You can't use the word identity when explaining what identity is.

shiannna salyers I know identity is important for the fact the people take others identity and use if for things

Your name is an important part of your identity considering it's what people use to greet others or just know someone. Some people have the same names and in that case, you'd need to also use your last name to be known so, yes your name is a important part of your identity.

Yes, you name is very important. Without it you wouldn't know if someone was talking to you, and it helps you get a job. It's also a very important part of your identity.

I agree with this statement because everyone knows you by your name. When people hear your name they should think of something about you automatically. A name isn't all your identity but its most.

if it wasnt for your name then people wouldnt know who you are so yes i do agree with that

yes your name is very important because no body would know who no one is or no any thing about them.

I somewhat agree with Kaitlyn Joseph's comment, but just because you don't know someone's name doesn't make them a no one, it's make them a someone who can't be identified.

your name is very important because people can steal it along with your social security number.

What about the personality part of identity? Does your name provide clues about your personality?

Anonymous said...

I agree a lot with Kourtney. If you didn't have a name, you wouldn't know who anyone was talking too.

Your name should provide clues about your personality, because when people say your name they should think of something that represents you.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Kourtney's comment because is part of your identity and it is important. but not your whole identity.

i agree with this statement cause if u didn't have a name no one would probably give u a job or know what to call u bye or anything u would pretty much not be there but your name wouldn't

i agree with river and dakota :D

Ur name usually doesnt represent your personality,

Anonymous said...

I agree with this because if you didn't have a name people wouldn't know who you were and if some steals your identity they take everything.

Faith Moore,
I agree, because people wouldn't know what to call u, and u would just be a person not really an individual.

i agree with dakota.

I agree with this statement cause if somebody has the same name as you, people would be confused who they are talking to. Also why you should have a identity is that people can call your name to say that their food has something in it or its the wrong food. What Im trying to say is that you need one when you are at work. Deonna

Like my maiden name, Matera - it's Italian. It could tell people that I'm Italian on my dad's side.

i strongly agree with Kaitlyn joseph cause it is your identity cause people know u by name not by appearance or what u look like just

Anonymous said...

yes and no because your name is your title but not your personality, your personality is what defines who you are but your name is what people remember you by so in a way it is your identity and its not an important part of it

Angel Smith, No a name shouldn't be so important , but you should have a name so people can get your attention.

your name isn't your entire identity, because you don't get to pick your name. your parents choose it for you.
