The first tradition I'm going to share just involves my primary family: me, my brother, my mom, and my dad.

Every Christmas Eve we had a stocking stuffer tradition. My mom always stuffed our Christmas stockings full of all kinds of good stuff. Some of it was silly, like socks and band-aids, and other times the stockings contained jewelry or money. Nevertheless, we were always excited about our Christmas Eve tradition. Every CHristmas Eve my mom would let us choose one present to open. She had to give it the final approval and it had to be after dinner right before we went to bed, but then we all took turns opening our stocking presents. This was a tradition that we always looked forward to.

Another family tradition that i'll share involves my family on my dad's side - The Matera's. We usually have the traditional Christmas dinner, but as my dad's side of the family is 100% Italian, we also like to add some authentic cuisine. And for Christmas every year, my grandmother makes these authentic Italian anise cookies. I guarantee you've never tasted a cookie like this. She shapes them to look like crescent moons and when they're done, she sprinkles powdered sugar over them. They taste best with a big glass of milk or dunked in coffee. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, my dad has taken over the tradition of making the anise cookies.

I disagree with this statement because my family doesn't have any family traditions and the and my family is still together.

My family on my mom's side has lots of traditions. One tradition is we all gather for Thanksgiving and eat and visit each other. Its a way to see a lot of my family that i don't usually see.

One family tradition on my dads side is we gather on memorial day because my dads dad died when he was 4 years old. We visit family we don't see a lot. We usually put flowers on the graves of the family members that died.

river warren: no there not people hold the family together.

Yeah, it does, because if your like my family you only see each other on christmas, which is like glue and keeps up together. Without it, we would never see each other.

I agree because, when there are traditions it involves people working together and having fun. For Christmas my family usually goes to my grandma's house, and we have fun and stuff.

Laura Peddicord:
I don't think Traditions is what holds family's together. It might be the thing that brings them together, but not what holds them. Family it's self is what holds family together. It's the family willing to work things out that keeps them strong. However family traditions is what makes a family fun!

I agree, most traditions hold families together. The tradition for my family is horses. Most of my family members on my my mom's side have horses. When ever it's a weekend or week we all have off of school and work, we go riding. We go out of state sometimes, or way down to southern Indiana. We even just ride down the road at someone's house.

yes i think tradition are glue that holds families and groups together because if we did have traditions he wouldnt see have of you families like at christmas or other things we wouldnt have all the friends we would lose alot of friends if we didnt see them. Every family and group of friends have some sort of tradition dont matter what kind of traditions they are

Anonymous said...

i disagree cause i don't have any family traditions but we are going to start family traditions

Anonymous said...

I agree as well. My family gathers together every year for Christmas were we have presents handed out to us, and this keeps our family glued together.

i think that the traditions are like glue because with out them you wouldn't really have a reason to see your family on a holiday like christmas. Having these traditions can bring back some good memorys that you don't want to forget that it why you should have a family tradition

I don't believe that traditions are the glue that holds familly and groups together. The reason for this is because at every tradition my familly has had they always seem to just tear me and my familly to hate each other even more.

Family traditions are what your family does that is different from most families. The special things that bonds your families together.

STILL, Even in group activites, with your friends, and etc. It's still not the activities you do. It's if you want to or not be that person's friend. It's if you WANT to be friends. -lolo peddicord

Something unique that my family always has at gatherings or holidays is my aunt always makes apple squares. My great grandma was the one who originally made them, but she died. Everyone in my family knows the recipe but my aunt is the one who always makes them, which is a special thing in my family.

For christmas my mom makes these stuffed shell things almost every year they have chicken and stuffing in them and she has like gravy on top.
